Upper Fly Fishing Report 4/6/2018

Well things are off to a pretty slow but typical start here in the Upper Delaware watershed. As I write this, im looking out the window at lightly falling snow, fortunately not much is predicted. If it wasn’t April id call it beautiful, but we’re ready for spring!

Reservoir levels-

Cannonsville 101.5%

Pepacton 96.6%

River levels-

Beaverkill- 1220cfs

Upper east-531cfs

Lower east-1880cfs

West-3080cfs

Mainstem-6170cfs

Currently we’re sitting pretty with full reservoirs and rivers, the west is even spilling. I understand that high cold water combined with cabin fever is a little frustrating, but its better than the alternative. Until flows come down, wade anglers are currently restricted to the East branch and upper parts of the watershed. Also remember most of the tribs are closed for another week or so. Boat anglers will find almost unlimited access at the moment.

Fishing is on the slower side. Focus on the deeper slower holes near wintering areas. Look for the fishing to improve substantially as soon as these water temps creep up a bit. Keep an eye on this fishing report we will update you as soon as the fishing picks up.

If you’re looking to beat cabin fever and come up to roscoe there is still some stuff happening. The museum is having the first cast, many events and the legends dinner all on Saturday. The Red Rose has also reopened after years of being closed. Someone (Marty, Matt or myself) will be manning the shop, company is always welcome.
