Weekend Outlook
This weekend the weather report is finally calling for perfect weather. This weather along with the abundant insects and active fish should make all fishermen happy!
Right now the action is exceptional. Anglers have the choice of fishing any method that they enjoy. There is also unlimited wading access to all of our local rivers.
The Big Bugs are here. Green Drakes, Brown Drakes, Isonychia, March Browns and Golden Stones are about daily. The Trout are blowing up on these giant insects whenever they are in the drift.
The photos below are some action with our great week with Project Healing Waters and Adopt a Soldier.
There are also abundant smaller insects on the water. The Sulfurs are everywhere and Cornuta Olives are starting. Spinners are now abundant every night and some mornings.
If you are into nymphing now is your time. Our guests are really running up the numbers fishing nymph rigs. It is straight up catching now as every riffle is full of fish. Every recent trip has seen our guests go way into double digit catches on nymphs. Right now with the clear lower water smaller nymphs are the key. Now is the time to stop by our shop and see our selection of Nymphs specifically for the Delaware System. We are currently killing it on our smaller Tungsten BH nymphs. Ice Pupas, Trigger Nymphs, Hot Spot and Pheasant tails are the patterns of choice.
Now is the time to fish the freestone rivers. The Beaverkill is top choice now along with the lower East and Main Delaware. This is where the fast water and pocket water is most abundant. This is also where the insect diversity is most evident. These rivers are now bug soup. This action shoul continue for as long as water temperatures hold in the productive range for trout to be active.
