November Options

Upper Delaware, Great Lakes Tributaries, Florida

Currently there are a lot of options for fishing with our Baxter House Guide Staff!

If you are looking for a late fall fishing trip or getaway we have some action for you. Our guides are still offering float trips in the Upper Delaware River. The water is high in the Delaware system but nice fish are still being taken. Both streamer and dry flies are effective at this time. Our guides will continue offering trips through the end of the month.

Our guides are now pretty focused on the Great Lakes tributaries. The hunt is on for Trophy sized Brown Trout and Steelhead. Guide Zach is on the water there now and the photos below are from yesterday. November is the time for Browns and they are entering the creeks daily. Give us a call to get in on the action.

I am in Florida and have been back on the water daily for the last 2 weeks. The fishing has been excellent in the areas where I fish. Right now there is no sign of fall weather in Florida. The daytime temps are in the mid 80's daily and the water in the bay, on the flats and in the back country is in the high 70's. There are lots of options for the fly fisherman at this time.

Currently we are catching lots of Snook including some real nice ones. The Snook action is steady and reliable. We are also finding steady action chasing fish busting bait on the surface. Big Jacks, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish and Bluefish have been available every day. The last 2 days bigs schools of Mack's have been busting just off of the flats. Yesterday most of the Macks were 25" or better. These fish absolutely smoke the reels on the #6 rods that we target them with.

Several time yesterday we hit schools of Jack's in the 10 pound range. These fish loose their minds over surface flies and lures. We have been taking them on the fly with Gurglers and Double Barrel Poppers. On light tackle it has been Surface Poppers and Spooks.

Over the last 2 weeks we have also been finding the occasional Tarpon here and there. Since I arrived here we have had a few Tarpon eat flies but none have been coaxed to the boat yet.

I expect the surface action to improve and stay reliable for as long as the bait stays on the flats.
