Dry Flies and Drift Boats

The dry fly fishing is excellent now. The early spring activity of Blue Quills, Quill Gordon's and Hendrickson's is in full swing. Our guests have been enjoying great hatches and easy fish for the last week.

The weather has been doing it's best to make things difficult. We are still in the pattern of rain followed by rain. The only changing factor has been the air temperature which has ranged from very comfortable to downright nasty. Over the past weekend our guests braved snow squalls but it was well worth it.

The rivers flows remain high and the only options for wading are in the Beaverkill and Willowemoc. Both are wadable at high water conditions. Yesterday afternoon there was a breif period of sunshine and both of these river had a nice period of surface feeding activity.

The rest of the system is still the domain of drift boat anglers. The current high water is perfect for boaters and finding rising fish is pretty easy now. For the last few days the flows have been sliding up and down a bit based on the amount of daily rain. The total change however has been insignificant. Below is today's chart

I have been pretty in depth in my last few reports as far as the where and how. The bugs are the same. The streamer bite is still excellent. Now is prime time for floating the Upper Delaware System.

I will let some recent photos finish up today's report. Most of the Trout have been on the Dry!
